Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Deadly Road Accident
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities confirmed on late Wednesday. The athlete was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on December 29th, a tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The boxer had been under observation while recovering from minor injuries, representatives stated earlier on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was declared medically stable to continue his recovery at home.
“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two friends who passed away as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the commissioner stated.
Remembering the Victims
The victims of the crash were identified as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the loss of his two dear friends.”
His release from the hospital arrives after the sports world offered sympathy for the fighter in the wake of the heartbreaking incident.
