Aryna Sabalenka concluded the season with an notable twenty-three to three Grand Slam win-loss record.

The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second successive year.

The twenty-seven-year-old secured four tournament victories – the most on tour – including successfully defending the US Open this past September against Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth Grand Slam singles triumph.

A Year of High Performance

Across the season, Sabalenka reached a circuit-leading nine championship matches, with defeats coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.

The Belarusian also won the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open in May. She spent the whole season as the world number one, ending 2025 on top of the rankings for a second successive year.

This past summer, she achieved the status of being the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams in 2015.

Record-Breaking Numbers

Sabalenka concluded the competitive year with a sixty-three to twelve match record, and picked up a record eleven million pounds in earnings.

She earned nearly eighty percent of the votes cast by global tennis journalists.

Later this month, she is scheduled to face 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match in a bid to "raise women's tennis to a greater prominence".

Other WTA Award Honorees

  • Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, received the award after taking extended hiatus following the arrival of her first child and making her comeback to the sport earlier this season.
  • Rookie of the Year: Canadian 19-year-old Victoria Mboko picked up the award after beginning the season positioned outside the world's top 300 and climbing to world number 18.
  • Doubles Team of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were selected after securing their second Grand Slam title together.
  • Most Improved Player of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after reaching five finals.

Recently, Carlos Alcaraz won three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, which included the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was voted the fan favorite for a third time.
