Franchise leads Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are confirmed to reprise their roles in the latest Hunger Games instalment, Sunrise on the Reaping.
It has been confirmed that original actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are returning to their iconic characters in the next chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The film is currently in production.
An Important Return to Panem
The duo will once again portray Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, respectively. Speculation suggests their appearance will probably be featured in a brief glimpse ahead, given that the original saga concluded with their characters married and with children.
This marks the sixth installment in the global Hunger Games franchise.
The Source Material
Sunrise on the Reaping draws its story from a recent book by series creator Suzanne Collins. It acts as the second film set before the original story after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Returning to the director's chair is Francis Lawrence, who has helmed the majority of the previous films in the series.
A New Era in Panem
The film's story are set 24 years before the first Hunger Games, centering on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, who would later become Katniss's mentor, is shown as a tribute in the deadly 50th Hunger Games.
The cast also includes several accomplished actors in important characters:
- Jesse Plemons will portray Plutarch Heavensbee.
- Ralph Fiennes is cast as a younger version of the menacing President Snow.
